His debut directing of the feature film “Hoot” brings his Florida background and twenty years of comedy and directing to a Newbury award winning book by Carl Hiaasen. Along with Jimmy Buffett and Frank Marshall, Wil produced a film shot on location in Florida.

Wil’s screenplay adaptation of the book debuted on over 3000 screens and become a top ten box office draw it’s first two weeks of release.

The film was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art’s collection in NYC and was recently named by the Smithsonian Museum one of the top five environmental films.
