He started on TV at age one doing commercials with his twin brother Kin  and his father TV humorist Herb Shriner. Growing up with a 8mm  camera in his hand, he attended famed UCLA Film and TV program where he learned from the greats how to entertain with story and image.

Appearing at the famed comedy store, another side another young comedian, David Letterman who liked Shriner’s comedy films so much that he brought Wil’s talents along with him on his rise to fame . Wil continued as a writer/director on numerous projects and shows with Letterman and it was one of his films that got him noticed by Francis Ford Coppola and it produced  a co-starring role opposite Oscar nominee Joan Allen in Peggy Sue Got Married.  From there he hosted his own nationally syndicated and three time Emmy nominated talk show, the Wil Shriner Show  and dozens of shows and series followed one after another.

In 2000 he began directing sitcoms at the top with Frasier and spent six years on all the top shows including Everyone Loves Raymond, Becker, Gilmore Girls and many others.

Jimmy Buffett asked him to read a book he had optioned and together they turned it into an award winning family film Hoot. WIl wrote the screenplay, produced and directed the film that came out on 3000 screens and was a top ten film in its first two weeks of release. It has found it way into the MOMA collection in NYC and was recently named one of the top five environmental films by the Smithsonian Museum

Wil’s’ corporate work as a Master of Ceremonies,  comedian, moderator make him a very in demand performer who can do it all. Recently he added Charity Auctioneer to his repertoire and has raised over 4 million dollars for top charities around the country by using his humor and sense of fun to help open wallets at dozens of events each year.

Wil has directed hundreds of hours of television and film.  His debut feature film “Hoot” brings his Florida background and twenty years of comedy and directing to a Newbury award winning book by Carl Hiaasen.  Wil, along with producer/partner Jimmy Buffett witness Wil’s screenplay adaptation of the book debut on over 3000 screens and become a top ten box office draw it’s first two weeks of release. The film was inducted into the Museum of Modern Art’s collection in NYC and was recently named by the Smithsonian Museum one of the top five environmental films.

On the small screen, Shriner is proud to have won the Humanitas Award for an episode of NBC’s “Frasier” entitled ‘Something About Dr. Mary’ dealing sensitively with the issue of racism.  Another of his numerous “Frasier” episodes, ‘The Proposal’, earned an Emmy Award for editing in 2002.

In addition to many episodes of “Frasier”, Shriner has directed episodes for the Emmy winner, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, CBS’s “Becker” and “Ladies Man”, ABC’s “My Wife and Kids”, “Norm”, “Married to the Kelly’s”, and “Two Guys and a Girl”,  Fox’s “Luis” and “Raising Dad” and the “Gilmore Girls” for the WB.

Wil’s body of directing work includes a few specialty ???? projects as well.  He wrote and directed a video for Microsoft’s Bill Gates lighthearted retirement tour, produced and directed a TV movie presentation in NYC, a Florida Centennial series and a reality pilot.

After a long break for something called school, he returned  to acting after being spotted on the Late Night with David Letterman show. He was cast opposite Joan Allen in the Academy Award nominated film “Peggy Sue Got Married,” directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

He has numerous films on his resume and says he has been honored to work with such great actors as Kathleen Turner, JIm Carey, Nicholas Cages, Helen Hunt, Ned Beaty, Roscoe Lee Brown, Charles Durning, Catherine Hicks, Cynthia Rothrock, Chuck Norris, Judy Tenuta, Michael Lerner, Andrew Stevens and Maureen O’Sullivan

After acting for a prestigious group of directors including John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Kevin Reynolds, Aaron Norris and Francis Coppola, he switched gears and now works both in front and behind the camera.

He has also made dozens of appearances on television shows like HBO’s “Dream On” and NBC’s “Search and Rescue” and “Amazing Stories.” As a TV talk-show guest and stand-up comedian, he has made over 50 appearances with David Letterman, Jay Leno, Bill Maher and a dozen appearances with his idol the late Johnny Carson.

Many Fortune 500 companies have been entertained by Wil’s comedic talents. The list includes Microsoft, Circuit City, Optika, RCA, Gemstar, Iomega, Engage, WEB-TV, Canon and Caesar’s Palace, to name a few.

In February 2000, he produced and wrote the Microsoft Windows 2000 launch, the largest product introduction in Microsoft’s history.  Two years later, he directed and wrote the Bill Gates comedy video shown at all of Mr. Gates’ public appearances.

Wil  continues to team up with friends and colleagues  to help raise money for a number of charity organizations. He does regular speaking on humor, technology and the internet.

Wil began his journey as a stand up comedian in Los Angeles in the early eighties at the two most famous proving grounds in America, the Improvisation and the Comedy Store.  There he met David Letterman, who liked him and hired him to write and perform on his morning talk show. After dozens of appearances with Dave, Jay Leno and the legend Johnny Carson, Wil was tapped to host his own national talk show, the Wil Shriner show. Wil shot 200 episodes of his show and was recognized with three Emmy nominations.

Wil has made over 50 TV appearances for David Letterman, Jay Leno, Bill Maher and Johnny Carson. He continues to do his stand up comedy and to work as a celebrity host and MC at events at theaters, nightclubs and corporate events around the country.   He has appeared at dozens of casinos in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City and Reno with: Joan Rivers, Jerry Seinfeld, John Denver, Loretta Lynn, Tom Jones, The Gatlins, Neil Sedaka, Tony Bennett and Jay Leno.  Wil’s humor has also helped to raise over 4 million dollars for a wide variety of charities.
